Samranchai  96 Penang has been one of Thailand’s most successful Muay Thai exports in recent years building up a perfect 10 and 0 record against the cream of the world’s light middleweights, he has fought in Europe, Japan and Dubai beating amongst others,  Warren Stevelmens and Ray  Staring in Holland and Yuya Yamamoto in Japan.

96 Penang – Real Muay Thai, Klong Tuoy, Bangkok


A visiting friend recently called for directions to the 96 Penang Muay Thai gym. ‘What’s the name of the road?’ he asked. ….Bono, eat your heart out because 96 Penang really is where the streets have no name; you go through the container depots, over the rail line past the shacks Bangkok’s poorest call home, its just to the right, past the rubbish dump. Its surrounded by a pretty awful scene brightened by the odd flicker of hope as children play on the line and women prepare food to hawk on the city’s late night streets but many round here have long realised the hopelessness of their situations and take refuge in rocket fuel rice whiskies or more illicit ways to obliterate their reality. Whatever, its not a pretty sight……
